Bunnies and Ghost Bunnies!

This is becoming some kind of hobby...

Meet lion bunny (left) and scruffy bunny (right)! I really liked painting these rabbits! They look a little unfinished - I think I was quite worried about ruining them. I like how I was able to make a white furred rabbit look actually like it's kinda white, not completely grey :)
These rabbits look pretty snazzy inverted, don't you think?

Even more rabbits & Cats!

At the top: Brush stroke rabbit. The right one went out well, I would like to give these another go sometime.
The other rabbits below went okay, but not as nicely as I hoped.  I really like how I did their ears though.

More brush stroke rabbit. I like the tail and the ears.

I saw a cat yesterday. Cat saw me.

Cat posed.

I am ZE cat.

Cat stride.

Cat has vision.

Life updates

If we forget all those burdens, life in a small town is rather nice. The most weird and quirky things seem to happen. I remember working on some project or another, and hearing the clatter of hooves outside. I took a peak outside and saw a gentleman with a horse and cart. He disappeared, only to reappear again, where I managed to grab my camera.

Sometimes we cook nice food together. This is simple, cheap pasta, tomatoes, sausages, peas, carrots and onions, with grated cheese. Tasty.

Sometimes I am able to concentrate a little to paint too.

I'm not sure what I did with the hair, but I liked how the wolf/goat has turned out so far.

Sometimes baking happens too.

And then more painting. This one is one of my favourite attempts at brush stroke painting. I like the ears, though shame about the front leg I think.

This is a more recent rabbit, experimenting with colour. I liked using the browns and the yellows, and will probably do another one of these.

I like shading with watercolours for some reason. The small things.

Osman Hamdi Bey

Since this blog has a little bit of everything, I thought it was about time I wrote a little about painters and paintings I admire. This is a small post about Osman Hamdi Bey's work.

Both of these paintings were done by the artist Osman Hamdi Bey. Not only did he create a variety of beautiful paintings, but he was also the founder of two museums in what is now Istanbul. As readers may know by now, I am particularly found of instruments, and I like the subtle-ness of the woodwind instrument behind the ladies back, the redness of the dress, the leaning forwards to greet the tortoise. I would love to see the painting live. In the second painting you see a woman reading the Qur'an. I like the religious connotations, the detail, the bright golden colour of her dress, her expression as she reads, the art in the background. The window in particular is wonderful.

I think in the future I will study Hamdi Bey's work and perhaps try to draw inspiration from it, though I have a feeling it'd be rather tricky.

Art

I feel my blog is too melachony right now, so here's my attempt to fill it with a bit of colour in this post. I begin with Kashiwa Daisuke, one of my favourite composers. He's imaginative and extremely clever with a range of sounds and different genres. It's always a pleasure to listen to his works, so I highly recommend readers to have a look into his albums.

First painting after quite a few years!

First or second best so far. I enjoy painting trees.

I've also given a go at painting, and have a new painting project on the go which has been enjoyable and relaxing to work at.

Wasn't bad for  a first try!

Done a bit of baking too. This was the first rainbow cake I ever made, with the help of a couple of great friends. Note to self, grapefruit are not suitable for baking.

And this is salmon with rice and onions. This was so good. I found out later soy sauce contains gluten, woops. But this was a good meal. I enjoy boiling rice now. I have to eat gluten for 6 weeks in order to find if I am truly intolerant, so looks like I may as well enjoy soy sauce now for a while!

Other than food and painting, I've been travelling. Recently I went to Cumbria and my boyfriend went on a course and saw Maddy Prior. She even gave us *both* a hug. That was a good adventure.

I enjoyed the wild beauty of Cumbria.

Great place for walks when it's sunny
I've also been writing strange things here and there. I'm currently working on a horror story with double meanings that has been quite fun. Also been reading a few books here and there. I'm on goodreads now, which has been encouraging me to read more than usual. A close friend of mine has 740 books on goodreads, so of course, being the competitive person I am, I have to beat her. I have a lot of catching up to do first though... I am currently concentrating on The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penny as my main read, and frankly, it's getting a little boring right now. Maybe I lack the concentration span needed for this kind of read.
